ステファンヌ・マンフレド『フランス流ＳＦ入門』 ― 2012-08-01 01:47
フランスでイデー・ルシュ叢書の一冊として刊行されたSF入門書である。イデー・ルシュとは紋切り型思考のことで、この叢書の目的は「紋切り型思考の理由を明らかにし、それらと一定の距離を保って、掘り下げた分析をすること」にあるらしい。
本書で言えば、「SFは未熟な若者向け」「SFは現実から完全に切り離されている」「SFは複雑」「SFは文学ではない」といった紋切り型思考に対して、著者は懇切丁寧に解説し、否定していく。が、掘り下げた分析には至っておらず、入門書を意識し過ぎたためか、カタログ的な羅列になってしまっているのが残念である。
ただし、サンリオSF文庫によって1980年代に成されたフランスSF紹介の系譜を継ぐ書物としての本書の存在意義は大きく、また、日本のSF漫画がフランスでどのように受容されているかがつぶさにわかるため、その辺りは非常に面白く読める（たとえば、『マジンガーＺ』と『エグザクソン』『エヴァ』が同一線上に並んでいるとか）。映画と漫画に比重を置きながらも、基本軸は小説にあるという方針は一貫しており、全体的には好感が持てた。こうした入門書は国内からも刊行されてもいいのではないか。今や日本の若者は「ＳＦは宇宙人の物語に過ぎない」（本書130頁）という紋切り型思考に陥っているように思われる。筆者は生徒に「ＳＦって宇宙人が出てくるんでしょう。ファンタジーはいいけど、ＳＦはちょっと……」と言われて絶句した経験がある。良質のＳＦが読まれる前に拒否されているとしたらこんなに悲しいことはない。自分も筒井康隆編『ＳＦ教室』（ポプラ社）がなかったら、今こうしてＳＦに関する文章は書いていないはずだ。漫画や映画を含めたバランスのとれた魅力的なＳＦ入門書が今ほど必要とされているときはない。第二、第三の『ＳＦ教室』、言ってみれば『日本流ＳＦ入門』の出現を望む。

●94頁は確かにむちゃくちゃですね。キャンベルが「ギャラクシイ」「F＆SF」を創刊したことになっている。78～80頁のあたりも読んでいて「あれっ？」と思ったんですが、冷戦時代の後にキャンベルが登場したり、ニューウェーブの歴史が変だったり（バラードがニュー・ウェーブに属さない、一匹狼的作家だとは知りませんでした）、確かに突っ込みどころは満載です。

訳者の方から8月10日発行の第２刷の謹呈本が届きました。（ちなみに初版はネット書店で購入後、訳者謹呈が届いた）

●本文で事実関係が明白に変なのは、94ページのキャンベルとアメリカのＳＦ雑誌のくだり。これはさすがに誤訳でこうなるとは思えないので、原文がおかしいのでしょう。
●日本版独自の作家一覧は、英語圏以外の人がたくさん取りあげられていて貴重だが、サンリオで訳された作品が軒並み無視されている（言及がなかったり邦題と違ったり）。なぜ。
●同じく日本版独自の用語一覧で、サブジャンルの説明に変なのが多い。サイバーパンク（「先端技術ryなどが社会に及ぼす影響を批判する潮流」って……）、スチームパンク、スペースオペラ、ヒロイック・ファンタジー、等。著者の用法（＝本文での意味にあわせた）、あるいはフランスではこういう意味で使われているということでもなく、訳者の理解というか見解のようだ。訳者自身の著書ならともかく、訳書でこれはダメでしょう。せめてなんらかの断りがないと。
